Our vast experience in small and large projects, complemented by our world class project management systems, ensures that projects we deliver compare well with the best the industry can offer, providing quality, budget and schedules management at competitive fees.
An independent study carried out in early 2005 found that Commerce fee levels, expressed as a percentage of total project cost, are comparable to industry averages. This outcome is consistent for project, contract and program management of projects of all sizes ($). Commerce project management efficiency as measured by resource utilisation is above average.
Delivery through our network of offices across NSW ensures that all clients can access this consistent quality service irrespective of the location of the project.
Services
We are an accredited government agency for the planning and delivery of building and infrastructure projects. This accreditation, given by NSW Treasury, recognises that we have the knowledge, expertise and risk management systems in place to procure a wide range of projects for our clients.
Focussing on the complete project life cycle from the owner's perspective, our project managers can assist you to develop the project business case, define project objectives and scope, and then manage design, tendering, construction, commissioning and maintenance. We can assist you during all phases of the project or simply help you manage specific phases.
You can access any or a combination of these services:
We provide project management solutions to a range of NSW government agencies, including state government departments, public trading enterprises and local councils. Our experience ranges from projects for schools, hospitals and prisons to water treatment plants, transport, ports and the environmental sectors, with an extensive scope of works that includes:
· Construction/refurbishment of public buildings
· Construction of large infrastructure water/sewerage projects
· Site remediation
· Facilities maintenance
· Office fit outs.
We are an accredited agency under Treasury's new policy for procurement of capital works by NSW Government agencies. All NSW government agencies can engage us directly without the need for and cost of tendering. Similarly, councils and local water utilities can also engage Commerce directly as stipulated in Part 3, Section 55 of the Local Government Act.
When you engage Commerce you have access to a team of highly skilled project managers with years of experience in delivering projects to government agencies.
The Department has introduced the Registered Project Manager's Program, which is a rigorous third-party certification process for its senior project managers. The Program uses the internationally recognised National Competency Standards for Project Management.
Under the certification process, administered by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), Commerce has gained certification of 14 Master Project Directors and 16 Registered Projects Managers along with over 100 staff who have met the Qualified Project Practitioner requirements. This independent certification process further assures clients of the quality and demonstrated experience of our project managers.
Commerce continues to earn accolades from the AIPM.
In 2007, Commerce won an AIPM award for its work on the Darling Anabranch Pipeline project.
Project manager Neil Mudge won the AIPM National Individual Project Management Achievement Award, the fourth person from Commerce to do so.
