Apprenticeships

DSTA's apprenticeship program continues a long tradition of training skilled tradespeople begun by NSW Public Works.
Apprentices work in DSTA's Heritage and Building Services (HABS) an "in house" building contractor that provides traditional trade services to other Government agencies.
HABS maintains a ratio of four apprentices to one tradesman, in accordance with Government guidelines, and employs apprentice electricians, stone masons, painters, plumbers and carpenters.
How to apply
DSTA usually publishes apprenticeship positions in late September - early October each year. Successful candidates are advised in December and begin work in January of the following year.
Apprenticeship positions are advertised in the Daily Telegraph under the Government Section and on jobs.nsw the NSW government jobs website.
Application forms for these positions are specific and include a requirement for school leavers to submit the past two years of school reports.
The advertisements will include a contact point so you can ask for application forms and information packages.
